Why I go to work every day?

When I was in college, I took a course on the Sociology of Aging and was inspired to help to change the way seniors are perceived in society.     My first job was in the senior living industry and it has been a passion of mine ever since to help seniors and their families live their best life.   In my role I have the opportunity to coach and mentor our teams that work directly with residents to help them live purposeful lives each and every day.    For that I am grateful.

 

Why I care about this industry?

Oftentimes, when we get to know seniors they are in a situation of crisis or uncertainty.   Maybe they have experienced a recent life changing health event, or they are facing the loss of independence due to declining health.   That, combined with having to make life altering decisions by moving to a senior living community, can be overwhelming.    It is my honor and privilege to be able to assist residents and their families through the transition to senior living.   I feel it is incumbent upon all of us who serve seniors and their families to show great empathy and love in making these difficult decisions.   And it is my goal each and ever day to ensure that we, at Silver Birch, provide that support.

 

Who I really am….

I am a servant leader who is inspired when I see the potential and bring out the best in others.   My work joy comes in seeing success in those I support.   I am a devoted wife, mother, and friend.    When I am not at work, I can usually be found sitting on the sidelines at one of my 2 sons sporting events or at home cooking or baking.    My faith, family, close friends and pets are what bring me the most joy.
