Silver Birch Statement on Sprinkler Pipe Burst at Silver Birch of Terre Haute
On Sunday, December 25th at approximately 2:45pm, Silver Birch of Terre Haute experienced a burst sprinkler pipe on the third floor of the community. The burst pipe affected a section of all three floors of the community. The Terre Haute fire department responded immediately, evaluated the situation, and aided the staff in securing the safety of residents.
We are grateful that between the swift action of the Terre Haute Fire Department, the teams at ServePro and Koorsen Fire and Security, along with the actions of our onsite staff, all residents are safe and comfortable. Thankfully, only one resident had to be relocated to another unit within the community as a result of the damage. The team at the community was able to serve residents dinner in their apartments, all families were notified as warranted of the situation, and residents and families were extremely cooperative and understanding. Residents were escorted to their apartments as they returned from holiday outings with families.
Thankfully, all residents that had planned to stay at the community for the holiday, were able to do so. By 10pm the pipe was repaired, the sprinkler and fire systems were back online, and clean-up efforts began. The community anticipates clean-up efforts to continue in the coming days.
The entire Silver Birch family expresses their sincere thanks to the Terre Haute fire department for their professionalism and compassion. We are lucky to serve in such an amazing community. We were fortunate to have several local healthcare facilities reach out and offer assistance, if needed. The combined efforts and spirit of generosity and support were wonderful, especially on Christmas Day.
